The most famous name in scooters, Vespa needs little introduction. Their first model was released following the end of the Second World War in 1946, the model making its way into popular culture with the scooter boom of the 1960s.
Owned by Italian powerhouse Piaggio, who also take ownership of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi, Vespa’s growth over the last two decades has been enormous. In 2004, 58,000 scooters were produced. That number jumped to 100,000 in 2006, 180,000 in 2017 over 210, 000 in 2018.
Often imitated but rarely equaled, Vespa is the quintessential scooter so many manufacturers have tried, and failed, to replicate.
